or monthly?

Start from the honest question

Not "how clean do I want my house?" — everyone answers that the same way. The useful question is: how long does it take your home to get to the point where it bothers you?

Whatever that interval is, book slightly more often than it. If your house starts grating on you at around three weeks, monthly means you spend a week of every month mildly annoyed.

Bi-weekly

Where most households land, and where Astrid would start most people.

Two weeks is roughly how long a normally-occupied home takes to drift from clean to noticeably-not. It's frequent enough that each visit is genuine maintenance rather than catch-up, and infrequent enough to be reasonable to pay for.

Suits: couples, small families, most townhomes and single-family homes in Loudoun, anyone who tidies but doesn't deep clean.

Weekly

Suits: households with young children, multiple pets, anyone working long hours who wants the whole thing to be a non-issue, and larger homes where two weeks is genuinely too long.

Costs more per month, less per visit — each visit is lighter because less has accumulated. If you're already at bi-weekly and every visit feels like it's racing the clock, this is the fix.

Monthly

Suits: smaller homes, single occupants, people who clean regularly themselves and want the deeper work handled, second homes.

The honest caveat: a month is long enough that each visit does real catch-up work, so it's less "maintenance" than the other two. Perfectly sensible for the right household — just don't expect a monthly visit to hold a house the way a bi-weekly one does.

One-off

Nothing wrong with it. Before guests, after a party, spring, or simply because this month got away from you. Most one-offs are effectively deep cleans, since the house has usually gone a while.

Just change it if it's wrong

The frequency isn't a contract. Start where you think, live with it for two or three visits, and tell Astrid if it isn't right. Moving from monthly to bi-weekly — or the other way — is a text message.
